FAQ's

Q: I don’t have any experience with boats will I still be able to hire a boat?
A:
Yes. The Pontoon Boat is surprisingly easy to operate, with controls similar to driving a car. Our modern tinnys are highly stable, handling smoothly on the water, and equipped with electric start 4- stroke motors that make operation a breeze. Please note that a boat license is required to operate the tinnys.
Before setting off, one of our qualified staff members will guide you through the boat's operations, from bow to stern, ensuring you're fully prepared. After practical instruction, you'll be ready to embark on your journey with confidence and peace of mind!

Q: Do I need a boat license?
A:
No. To operate the Pontoon Boat, all you need is a full car driver's license, and the hirer must be over 21 years of age with a current and valid license. However, to operate the tinnys and Ski Boat, a boat license is required. Safety and compliance are key, so make sure your license is up to date before hitting the water!

For those looking for a tranquil and serene escape, the Murray River offers a stunning backdrop of majestic ancient cliffs, peaceful morning river mists, and an incredible variety of birdlife. At night, the vast expanse of stars will take your breath away! You can also moor your boat right in the heart of Renmark and explore the town's offerings.
Be sure to visit the beautiful Visitor Information Centre for more details on what to see and do during your stay. It's the perfect way to combine nature's beauty with a little local exploration!

Q: How large is the ice box on the pontoon boat?
A:
Approximately a 60-litre esky.

Q: What is included in the hire?
A:
All hires come with safety gear required for the specific boat which we will run through during the pre-hire safety briefing.

Q: Do the hires include fuel?
A:
The Small Tinny hires come with a tank of fuel (20L). Additional fuel can be requested and paid for on return if used. We recommend an extra 5L to get to Wilkadene and back from Renmark. The Pontoon Boat fuel is also included in the Hire. The boat will use approx. 80L to get to Wilkadene from Renmark so the RPM restrictions MUST be adhered to or you may run out of fuel. Call out fees do apply. Golden Rule – The faster you go the more fuel it will use!

The Ski Boat and Big tinny hire does not include fuel.  We will supply you with 2 tanks of fuel which can be returned full or paid for at the end of the hire.

Q: Can we drive our boat to the Woolshed Brewery?
A:
Yes, you sure can. The Woolshed Brewery is a 2.5-hour trip each way by Pontoon Boat, or just over an hour by Tinny or Ski Boat (approximately 40 km). If you're planning to make the journey on &'Marge the Barge', you'll need to hire the boat for a full day to make the most of your trip. The brewery offers a great selection of beer, wine, and soft drinks for purchase (no BYO allowed), along with local cheese platters. On weekends or special occasions, you may also find a food van and live music. Be sure to check their Facebook page for event updates. The brewery is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm (closed on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, and Good Friday). For complete details, visit their website!

Q: Where can I moor along the river?
A:
There are mooring pontoons in front of the Renmark Club if you need to collect any supplies from town or stop in for a meal.
The Woolshed Brewery has a boat tie up area in front of the deck with stair access to the Brewery.
Otherwise just pull up to a sandbar somewhere along the river for a more secluded stop-off.
